Bring Your Own Bottle - A Lifestyle Worth Trying

I’ve been in college for the past 4 years now and you can say that I’ve gotten my days into somewhat of a routine. I get up in the morning, freshen up, finish assignments, go to school, grab food and drinks in between breaks, and then go home. This has been the gist of my daily school life in Benilde; however, because of my NATSCA2 subject, I’ve been given the opportunity to look back at the way I did things and how much of an impact I’ve actually made to our environment.

I’m a heavy drinker; not in the alcoholic sense, but with respect to the amount of liquids I consume everyday. On average I used to buy roughly 3 to 4 bottles of water everyday. That’s over 60 bottles per month! I’ve literally squandered resources just in the simple act of replenishing my everyday needs. Luckily, during the 3rd year I started bringing a tumbler that I got for Christmas and I’ve got to say. It really has helped me. It helped me because I did not have to constantly buy beverages in the cafeteria anymore, saving me a heap of money in the long run. More importantly, I’ve reduced my reign of terror onto the environment by reducing the amount of waste I cough up every single day.

I know it’s just a small gesture, but don’t all great things start that way? I encourage you to bring your own bottle. If I can just persuade just 10 people with this post, we’ve already helped keep around 500 bottles monthly from getting thrown into the trash bin.

Anti-RH Bill Catholics Harass RH Bill Supporters

The Filipino Freethinkers and the Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines went to the Manila Cathedral where an anti-RH bill discernment mass was supposed to be held.

Unfortunately, they were denied entry from the chapel for wearing Damaso-printed shirts, which these organizations have worn to express their disagreement with the CBCP’s position.

Lorna Ferrer, a member of the DSWP, told Mr. Manalang that she was Catholic. Mr. Manalang responded with, “You are not a real Catholic! You are an oxymoron!” — implying that Catholics who use or support any form of artificial contraception could not possibly be “real” Catholics.

Here are just some of the statements hurled at members of the Filipino Freethinkers and the DSWP by Manalang and company:

“This is our territory. Get out of here!”
“Damaso is a fake. You’re a fake! You are the Damaso!”
“Get out of here, Satan!”
“You should tell your mother that she should have aborted you!”

As the organizations walked away, Pro-Life advocates continued the barragewith “Get out of here, Satan!” “Away, Satan, away!”

Meanwhile, the anti-RH reflection service was going on inside. One of the speakers, Dra. Angie Aguirre, asked the churchgoers inside: How many have read the actual text of the RH Bill? Less than ten percent raised their hands.

Stand back, controversial opinion coming your way!

I am completely and utterly delighted that this is how they choose to react. I laugh and I encourage them to yell these things at dissenters because then we are able to see their true faces more and more. Let what you really feel about those who oppose you out and tell the world more of what you think of them and their cause. I’ll egg you all on and let you have the pedestal and keep talking.

You, gentlemen and ladies, are the monsters of history. When generations look back at these issues, all they will see is the hatred and bigotry of the church and it’s followers and I will just sit back and smile.

You continue talking fallacies and showing that you have nothing intelligent to say after all other than insult your opponents by calling them names and raising your voices in anger. This is in your nature, I understand. This is what you get from your church and what your belief makes you. And why wouldn’t you, after all. Your god has told you you are special above those who do not do as he says. And you are completely right in saying that according to your religion, you are in the right.

That is indeed what your leaders have decided and those who don’t believe this are not faithfully following your religion. That is all true.

And that is why I smile. Because I can see the intolerance promoted by your church run freely. I and everyone else can see what it means to have to follow that religion and what becomes of our society when we do.

If I were in the protesters position, I would be very pleased to be called Satan. The snake in the garden of Eden who opened the eyes of Adam and Eve to the truth. I would gladly be the snake that opposes the blind ignorance taught by the one they call god.

They flaunt their ignorance and the cold-heartedness of their nature. They show that their stupidity reaches new levels as they not only show that they do not know the first thing about the bill, nor do they classical Filipino literature. They also betray their own mother church with their stupidity. The church is a sanctuary open to all those that profess the faith. As contradictory to the current faith as the protesters are, if they say they are Christians, they have the right to enter and be safe within the walls of the Church. An archaic and in it’s day, counterproductive law, but it should still hold merit especially to those who do nothing wrong.

So go ahead. Keep yelling, and keep closing yourselves off for the rest of the modernizing world. Hold on to your fear based faith and your beliefs which not only harm our progress as a people, but harm us on an individual level. Keep doing that, because trust me, you only make me prouder and prouder to stand against you and your church.

Not that I agree with the statements presented by my friend, but this SERIOUSLY MAKES ME ASHAMED.

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair.I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick,it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you’re always right, I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call. But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even closenot even a little bitnot even at all.
