Bring Your Own Bottle - A Lifestyle Worth Trying

I’ve been in college for the past 4 years now and you can say that I’ve gotten my days into somewhat of a routine. I get up in the morning, freshen up, finish assignments, go to school, grab food and drinks in between breaks, and then go home. This has been the gist of my daily school life in Benilde; however, because of my NATSCA2 subject, I’ve been given the opportunity to look back at the way I did things and how much of an impact I’ve actually made to our environment.

I’m a heavy drinker; not in the alcoholic sense, but with respect to the amount of liquids I consume everyday. On average I used to buy roughly 3 to 4 bottles of water everyday. That’s over 60 bottles per month! I’ve literally squandered resources just in the simple act of replenishing my everyday needs. Luckily, during the 3rd year I started bringing a tumbler that I got for Christmas and I’ve got to say. It really has helped me. It helped me because I did not have to constantly buy beverages in the cafeteria anymore, saving me a heap of money in the long run. More importantly, I’ve reduced my reign of terror onto the environment by reducing the amount of waste I cough up every single day.

I know it’s just a small gesture, but don’t all great things start that way? I encourage you to bring your own bottle. If I can just persuade just 10 people with this post, we’ve already helped keep around 500 bottles monthly from getting thrown into the trash bin.
